Maureen FitzSimons's early accomplishments in the performing arts, that are now known by the name of Maureen O'Hara, would certainly have qualified her for her place in the "child prodigy" category. This is a natural quality for a woman of Irish descent, that was surrounded during her early days by talented relatives and parents. Maureen entered into this nurturing home on August 17, 20th in Ranelagh. She was the daughter of Marguerita Lilburn FitzSimons, was a talented contralto. Her father, Charles FitzSimons, managed a business in Dublin and also owned part of the famous Irish football team "The Shamrock Rovers." Maureen FitzSimons was the child of Charles FitzSimons. Peggy, Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons complete this wonderful family. Maureen did well as a sporty woman and was a gruelling athlete in games as a child. Her passion was coupled with an unnatural talent for performing. This was demonstrated by her winning pretty much every Feis award for drama and the stage that her country had to offer. When she turned 14, she was invited to the highly acclaimed Abbey Theater and pursued her goal of performing in classical theatre and operatic singing.
